Week 2 Yale, Downtown New Haven

  1. I wonder what the story is with the modern day gargoyles... 3 criminals are flanked by two policemen.... This has nice tonality... one of the disciplines to develop in leaning photography is how to frame a shot to include exactly what is needed and no more... how to line things up to create intentional composition that demonstrates a nice sense of proportion. See how the windows at the top are neither here nor there?

The gate shot is flawed by the "blown out" tonality if the stone on either side of the ironwork. When we edit, the first rule is the same as the Hippocratic Oath that doctors take when they receive their MD..."First do no harm". You select areas with the lasso tool in Photoshop then "feather" it... now you can lighten areas relative to other elements in the image to retain balance of tonality.
