Working with sky at Yale

For Gabby as a follow up to my comments under your last post... I gathered a few images from Yale Campus from Flickr to illustrate what I am trying to convey...

Beinike Library...

See how the sky works dynamically here?  The sunlight is illuminating the face of the building directly so the sky in a relative sense isn't so bright. and both can work together better...

Yale campus...

See how the photographer lined up directly in front of the arch and centered the archway... also how he observed light falling  on the structure?  Simplicity and clarity is always stronger than randomness.... And it is always about light first then clear, simple design.

Woolsey Hall, Yale

Look at how aligning the camera, eliminating sky and thinking about focal point make this come together?  This was edited in Photoshop to balance the highlights and shadows using feathered selections and levels...
